Vicky is smashing socio-cultural patriarchy and gender identities on a daily basis in the alleys of the slave island through art and by engaging women more into the community. Vicky is using her artistry and creativity to uplift the voices of women. Being a Henna artist, she is helping women of her neighbourhood to express their core values, latent intent and undiscovered aspirations associated with their personalities. She is unlocking the unseen and untapped potential in these women to break the barriers around them with courage, resilience and defiance.
Vicky is slowly and steadily transforming the women community of the Slave Island through her unmatched involvement. Her story is compelling, earnest and urgent. Vicky bleeds an unparalleled and rare kind of self-confidence. Her positivity, intent, passion and radiance are highly contagious, and so is her smile.
Vicky represents the poetic verse of Tagore- "Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free. Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls" -- in the flesh, blood and soul.
She has come a long way as a person from her first mural art which is a girl with a camera, which can be found right beside her portrait. She has empowered herself, every day with a lot of hard work, deliberate creativity processes and her love for the art.
