At the mouth of the Nilwala River

Water Tragedy

Her childhood flowed with the ocean and the adjoining river. This same sea that was her everything, took it all back. Eleven faces she loved and cherished, she now barely remembers, save for an old photograph tucked away in her bedside drawer.

Each face carries a fond memory of the ocean, their livelihoods fueled by a restless sea.

Years have gone by and you can still see her by the sea, alone, sweeping the sand with an ekel bloom.
