Back to the past

Located at the highest point in Macao, Guia Fortress was part of Macau’s defense line. Hidden in the hill is a myriad of tunnels. You can still enter one of the air raid shelters inside the fort, the dimmed lights, military uniforms and historical pictures instantly catapult you back to the past.

Nice to know

The famously romantic movie scene from “Look for a Star” starring Andy Lau and Shu Qi was filmed here.

It’s a great place to relax, enjoy the view of Macao. And I can also learn something about Macao history.

Unique style

Macao’s architecture is dominated by yellow, white and green, making the pure white of the Guia Fortress stand out. On the now dappled walls of the chapel is some unique murals, a combination of Chinese style lion murals and western biblical character stories.
