This cycling path is part of the Eco Sanur initiative to make Sanur a bike village that started with the Sanur Green Map in 2014. The Indonesian Ministry of Public Works was quick to embrace the initiative and provided these designated bicycle lanes and signs. Plans are to create a cycling path throughout Sanur.

Sanur Green Map - the basis for this cycling route - is curated as part of a global green map movement. In Sanur, a university lecturer and a number of NGO’s convinced the mayor that cycling is the best way to experience local life in the heart of Sanur.
