The pre-war nine-story Neo-classical building is a rare sight amidst the high-rise commercial buildings. Central was once filled with blocks like Pedder. Close to a century old, it is the only historical building on the street, and probably the only colonial commercial building left in the hood.

Architectural gem
Designed by internationally renowned architectural firm Palmer and Turner Architects and Engineers Limited, Pedder Building is kitted out with classical stonework, cornices, columns, covered arcade and arched windows…until the 1980s it even featured bronze ornaments.
