Small village with a big history
- Cha Kwo Ling Road
Frozen in time
The small seaside village has been here for more than 100 years. In its heyday, 20,000 people called this place home, and there were lots of restaurants and shops. A big fire in 2006 burned down many of the wooden houses, the few that survived are now mostly abandoned. Only a few hundred people and lots of cats still live here, like frozen in time.
This place has always been famous for its high-quality granite. For many years, mining was one of the major economic activities in Kwun Tong. The house at 58 Main Street and many of the temples are built with local granite.
Sense of nostalgia
Take a rest at the 50-year-old Wing Wah Bing Sutt. This simple hole-in-the wall restaurant is the best place to watch village life and enjoy a HK-style French toast. It almost feels like stepping back in time.
