The Tin Hau Temple is strongly linked to Kowloon’s mining industry in Kowloon East. The temple is made wholly out of granite, a rarity in Hong Kong temples. In the mining days, the temple was much more than just a place of worship, it doubled as a community hall and village school.

Located at a popular sea route to Kowloon this place has excellent feng shui, a good location for a temple. Each year in the 3rd lunar month, fisherman come here in droves to celebrate Tin Hau’s birthday. It’s a great festival with parades and street performances.
