iEat Hop Shing Dessert

The only place in town to try traditional Chiu Chow desserts

In hard times, when we could not afford a proper meal, we used to fill our stomach with this sweet soup.

Chiu Chow classics

Dessert restaurants are so typical for Kong Kong. This traditional shop house is home to Hop Shing. Already in its third generation of family ownership, it’s the only place in town where you can try Chiu Chow desserts.

Satisfying sweet soups

One of the specials here is classic Chiu Chow dessert soup. What makes these soups special is the texture and rich filling of lotus seeds and ginkgo nuts. "In hard times, when we could not afford a proper meal, we used to fill our stomach with this sweet soup," Mr Fong, the owner, explains.

Our favourites

Do try the persimmon cake (HK$31) and sweet green bean soup (綠豆爽) (HK$35), both Hop Shing specialities.
