Silver craftsmanship
Pak Sumedi’s workshop is where you find local craftsman transforming silver, bronze, leather and copper into delicate jewellery. This is a typical local workshop, known for its longstanding tradition of metal engraving. Customers flock here from all over Java to get pieces custom-made or have silver objectsengraved.
Hand crafted
At Pak Sumedi’s workshop they still use the traditional "hand push" method, working with typical Javanese decorations many of which can only be found in Kotagede.Pak Sumedi says: “Gods and animals from the hindu-buddhist Majapahit kingdom are now very popular among the young generation”.

Craft your own
Try making your own jewellery?Pak Sumedi - together with Kotagede Heritage Trail - hosts workshopswhere you learn how to make a ring or broche and even engrave it.
