Kennedy Town is Hong Kong’s new hipster hood, with craft beer cafés and trendy restaurants at the quaint quayside. But it wasn’t always like that. Locals call it Sai Wan - Western Circuit - and for years this remote neighbourhood at the end of the tramline was the ‘backyard’ of the island. Here you’d find slaughterhouses, factories, wholesale markets, squatter villages, incinerators and even a mortuary. The early years have shaped K-Town’s community into one of the city’s most resilient and vibrant, forming a neighbourhood with a unique spirit. 自給自足的繁盛社區堅尼地城近年成為香港熱門蒲點，酒吧與西餐廳林立。鮮有人知道街坊一直稱此區為西環，而「西環」這個地名隱含著的是獨特的過去和身份認同。西環因處於港島邊陲一直被忽略，區內被設置多項厭惡性設施，如九大欄、屠房、焚化爐、煤氣鼓等。西環人多年來卻刻苦耐勞，把握設施帶來的工作機會，形成自給自足的社區，柔韌且繁盛。街坊現在都自豪說一句「我係西環人！」
