This basement shop is a true gem. They carry a great selection of vintage t-shirts, historic books, photographs and other memorabilia all with contemporary packaging. The Red Bridge is an initiative of some young Surabayans who are proud of their City of Heroes. They also run an online platform to exchange pictures and stories about tempo doeloe (the old days) and the independence struggle.

Reliving history


The annual highlight of the Roodebrug community is re-enactment of the great Battle of Surabaya, a popular and memorable spectacle.

We are a community that is concerned about preserving local history by lifting up the spirit of heroism.
