Crossing the river
From the pagoda compound you can take a little boat to a complex of monastery buildings on the other side of the river. This mysterious boat ride is a local highlight.
Catch a ride
A boat leaves about every twenty minutes and there is only one boat in use. Each ride costs 100 kyat for one way. Around 500 people use this boat service every day, often nuns travelling back and forth to the temple. Except when it's high tide, then they’ll use the concrete bridge further up the river instead.
