Gorgeous temple
This temple is an oasis of calm from the hectic Jl. Bagan Luar. A myriad of pleasant hues and sculptures with images from Hindu scriptures, packed within a cosy interior. The temple is a popular place of worship among the local Indian population, it is especially lively in September when a chariot procession goes through the streets to celebrate the deity’s holy day.
The elephant God
The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Ganesha (also known as Vinayagar). He is one of the most powerful gods in the Hindu tradition. Ganesha is easy to spot because of his elephant head. When Ganesha was born, his father did not recognize him and accidentally chopped off his head. His kind mother replaced it with that of an elephant.
