Vertical artists’ village, must-visit for cultural hipsters

Vertical village

In this vertical city, even an artist village is a stocked affair. Brainchild of artist May Fung, who found a landlord willing to rent out a number of vacant units in her building at discounted rate, the Foo Tak creative community is home to installation artists, Chinese calligraphers, filmmakers, media outlet and much more.

Creative hub

At the top floor is bookstore ACO, with regular events such as exhibitions, readings, film screenings and music performances. Impressive collection of Chinese and English books/zines and a nice quiet space for reflection in the heart of busy Wan Chai. “Foo Tak has gradually become the “Top 10 places cultural hipsters should go”, says designer Kay Chan.

This is the first and only community-initiated hub for cultural industries.
