Testimony to local heritage preservation battle

Battle of heritage preservation

The eye-catching two storey Portuguese style villa is a testimony to local heritage preservation. In 2006, the Blue House was proposed to redevelop into a 14-storey office tower. The plan was strongly opposed by local residents, as they felt the Blue House represented a piece of irreplaceable memory of the past, while so much of their heritage had already been lost to casinos and hotels. That’s why the blue house is still here today.

I adore the blue façade, catches my eye everytime I pass by.

Nice to know

Until the 1980’s the Blue House was actually pink.
