iEat Boolan Fast Food

Delicious local street style seafood

Behind his ginger moustache and gold chains is the determined, friendly face of the man that created the unique taste that gives Boolan Fast Foods its stellar reputation.

Malay heritage

This is your go-to place for great-value comfort food. At Boolan’s you will be greeted by a wide, jolly man who looks like a crossing between a biker and a gangster but don’t let his appearance fool you. Behind his ginger moustache and silver or gold chains is the determined, friendly face of the owner and creator of the unique taste that gives Boolan Fast Foods its stellar reputation. This is Boolan (birth name Mohammad Naushad). His recipes are inspired by his childhood watching and learning cooking from his mother who was famous for her Malay dishes pittu and babaath.

Local celebrity

Boolan has had his own share of limelight, he was a well-known actor in commercials and tv series playing a sumo wrestler and an iron man. He even had a role in the movie Attmavarsha. His previous store was right opposite Hotel Nippon, it was destroyed in 2008 when a bomb exploded at the hotel.

Our favourites

Boolan’s signature dish is rampe chicken, inspired by a recipe from an Indian friend. We also like the Malay style nasi goreng and the weekend special, fried octopus. Prices range from 200-600 LKR.
