In Midway Shop you find yourself surrounded by a superb collection of eye-catching handcrafts and design goods. They have one thing in common-- they are traditional and yet as innovative. “We have travelled to many places and witnessed the true handicraftsman’s spirit, so we decided to help promote these meaningful crafty works” says Rita, the store’s owner.
One time there was a car waiting for the traffic lights, the passenger leaned out and shouted, he was so curious to know what type of things we sell.
The perfect misfit
Situated among weary old buildings Midway’s minimalist Japanese-style store front design is the perfect antidote to the Sham Shui Po streetscape, a mystic minimalistic space that just quietly awaits to be explored. Rita shares that the store is often mistaken for a bakery or a bar: “One time there was a car waiting for the traffic lights, the passenger leaned out and shouted, he was so curious to know what type of things we sell”.

We like the Hibi aroma matches, created by a 90-year-old matches factory in Japan that successfully turned an almost extinct product around into a cool gadget.
