Wedding cards & then some

Even though a traditional letterpress stands prominently in Tak Kee print shop, Mr Yam only uses offset printing these days. He can print anything, but wedding cards are his primary business: Some need additional works like foil stamping. We can tailor to what the client wants,” Mr Yam says.

A Heshan trade

Tak Kee is run by the 2nd generation Yam family. His friend—also called Mr Yam—runs the Kwong Wah Printing in Sai Street in Sheung Wan. Both hail from Heshan, Guangdong province. Most immigrants from this area who moved to Hong Kong ended up working in the printing or renovation business.

Precious signboard

Tak Kee’s calligraphy signboard is a precious gift from a famous Chinese calligrapher, Chuek Siu Hang, a friend of Mr. Yam’s father. He created it to celebrate Tak Kee's opening.
