Shaping Kwun Tong’s future

Passing on the industrial spirit

After the war, Hong Kong was the world’s main manufacturing hub and Kwun Tong was at the centre of it all. The factories here churned out more than a quarter of all plastics goods produced in the city. Many of the factory buildings still stand today as a testimony to the heydays, but with the decline of the industry, Kwun Tong is now undergoing a transformation into a business district and EKEO is the architect of that journey.

Under the flyover

EKEO has transformed the unused space under the flyover into a cool public space for play, art and music. Food trucks, graffiti, pop-up exhibitions, movie screenings have made it a vibrant space that pays a tribute to the stories of the past.
