Triggered by demolition threat of some important historic buildings in Yangon’s city centre, famous local historian Dr. Thant Myint-U and a group of like-minded architects, historians and business people set up the Yangon Heritage Trust dedicated to preserving the city’s unique architectural legacy.

Guided walking tours

Yangon Heritage Trust is an enormous source of knowledge about Yangon’s historic city centre. They have a little bookshop, regularly run exhibitions at their Pansodan Office and also have excellent guided tours every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Highly recommended!
