Cheap & cheerful

Don't be misguided by the dull name and shabby entrance; cooked food centers in Hong Kong are synonymous with good value local fare in a lively, noisy atmosphere with a no-nonsense attitude to service. What sets this cooked food center apart from the pack is the mix of different cuisines on offer: it’s not just Cantonese specialities, but also Northern Chinese, Nepalese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and surprisingly …. Italian.

Mix it up

Each restaurant in a cooked food centre has its own seating area with table service, but if you spy something delicious at another table, you are free to order from another restaurant

Can’t miss it, head straight for the red white checkered tablecloths and bottles of wine on the table. Run by the same people that made M at the Fringe a HK institution, ABC Kitchen serve excellent roast suckling pig and dessert soufflés in these unpretentious surroundings. Even better, there’s no corkage. We also recommend the cheap and flaky meat pastries from 曾記粿品 sitting right next to ABC Kitchen.
