iEat Upali’s

Local hotspot for an authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience

Local hotspot

Founded by veteran entrepreneur Upali Dharmadasa, this sufficiently upscale restaurant offers authentic Sri Lankan food, including the local staple of rice and curry, packaged in fine dining artistry. Overlooking the Viharamahadevi Park and the Nelum Pokuna theatre, Upali’s offers a range of uniquely Sri Lankan food items and has a penchant for the hot and spicy. The food here is
pretty much what-you-see-is-what-you-get, with nothing too ambitious on the menu. However, every item on the menu is prepared with great attention to detail in terms of flavour and aroma.

No one does Sri Lankan cuisine quite like Upali’s, the place is a perennial local favourite

Our favourites

Try the tempered rice with spicy chicken or mutton curry, it’s got a kick without being overwhelming and the meat is packed with flavour. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by the many menu choices? You can’t go wrong with the tasting platter, Sri Lankan cuisine for beginners. Leave some room for Kiri Pani (curd and treacle) the creamy curd comes in a small clay pot with trickle of golden syrup. About Rs 1000 for a meal.
