Historic heritage house
This stunning heritage residence was once known as Rosmead Walawwa, and was home to dynastic Bandaranaike family that produced three of Sri Lanka’s political leaders. It was here on the veranda of Tintagel in 1959 that S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike, then the country’s Prime Minister was shot and subsequently died in hospital. In 1960, his widow, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, became the world’s first female Prime Minister.
What we love
Enjoy this glam sanctuary of calm in busy Colombo. Have a coffee in the relaxed chic courtyard garden or a candlelit à la carte meal in the chic dining room. Even better, rent the whole space for a stylish dinner party.
Boutique hotel
The old mansion has been stylishly renovated into a 10-bedroom boutique hotel. A home away from home in this elite neighbourhood. Equipped with a private spa, pool and library, Tintagel resonates luxury and is fit for high heeled guests. The say Prince Charles stayed here when he was in town for a Commonwealth meeting.
