Traditional bakery in the original ‘biscuit street’
- Biscuit Galli, Pankore Naka, Bhadra
- Mon-Sun 10am-9pm
For more than 100 years, the bakery is run from this small space and is usually packed with people. The bakery is a small street called biscuit galli. Before packaged biscuits became popular, this street was lined with traditional wood ovens, like mini food factories. Not anymore, but Hussaini is one of the few places that still uses a wood oven.
We think we know the secret behind the success of Hussaini Bakery; it’s run by big hearted people. One of the most popular items are the two-rupee, bite sized pastries. So affordable, they are a real treat for many in the neighbourhood, especially the ones with little money to spare. At Hussaini there is a bite of happiness for everyone!
What to order?
Locals come here for the aflatoon biscuit (a food item which is very unique to Ahmedabad, a must try!), khari biscuit (savoury) and kaju biscuit (cashew biscuit). Or try the parantha (fermented, soft, baked bread which is very popular during Ramzan, the holy month of Muslims, to break the days fast). The crispy vegetarian puff is another favourite!
